In the past, we’ve shared our approach to sustainable investing, how we help our clients create change using their investments, and our impact as a firm. I wanted to take a moment to share what else we’re doing behind the scenes to ensure that your wealth is working to help create the future we all want to live in.
At Good Capital, we strive to align ourselves with asset managers who share our values and who are actually working towards creating a better future, not ones that are merely selling ESG products to check the box. We use several different reporting tools to help us make sure that we’re doing the best we can in terms of investing to actually make a difference (e.g. As You Sow, and YourStake, and Change Finance, Morningstar sustainability ratings). We also help to lead a group of ESG advisors within Commonwealth (our broker dealer) to help other advisors effectively incorporate sustainability into their practices. Together we also work to push Commonwealth to be more sustainable and to offer more sustainable options to its network of advisors. We’re currently working with Commonwealth to approve the use of YourStake metrics for our clients, to add sustainable options to the bank sweep program, and to add more ESG focused investing options to our platform such as CDFIs and community notes.
In addition, Gideon and I also stay up to date on ESG happenings and trends in the industry. Gideon is continuously doing research on our ESG funds and fund managers as well as keeping a pulse on what’s available in the market. We actively participate in groups that are exploring what is beyond sustainable investing and what that world might look like.
It’s also important to us to share our knowledge and resources by participating in workshops, podcasts, and through our blog and newsletter. We want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to learn about how each of us can create change through investing.
We’re always striving to learn more about how we can do and be better. It’s a continuous process for us as we iterate, hear from clients, learn more, and iterate again. If you have suggestions or feedback for us, we’d love to hear from you!
